Marian Makdad - Love

Mrs. Marian A. Makdad-Love, 88, of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg formerly of Avalon Road, Juniata Gap died at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Manor following a brief illness.

Mrs. Makdad-Love was born in Altoona on August 24, 1928, a daughter of the late Warren B. and Laura (Gates) Wolf. She was previously married to Elias Charles Makdad November 29, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church, Altoona. He died May 20, 1972. She married Arnold H. “Whitey” Love May 14, 1977 in Altoona. He died August 14, 2009.

She retired as owner at Makdad Supply Company which she assumed upon the death of her husband Charles Makdad. She previously had been employed by Peoples Gas Company and A&P Food Stores.

She attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marian was 1946 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a volunteer for American Red Cross and Altoona Area High School Band Parents.

She is survived by four children, Rebecca E. Makdad of Gettysburg; Dr. Bonita J. (Dr. Steven) Evens of Richmond, VA; Paula M. (Hewitt) Shaw of Hudson, OH; John C. (Marie Glendenning) Makdad of Altoona; two stepsons Arnold "Herb" Love of Houston, TX; Patrick Love of Greensburg; sister-in-law Helen Evans of State College. Marian is also survived by seven grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Amanda Shaw, Elias Evens, J. Benjamin, Jacob and Chloe Makdad.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law Michael Love; and five siblings, Elvin Wolf, Robert Wolf, John "Pete" Wolf, Verna Stehle and Leona Nolan.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona at Noon on Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 the Reverend Dr. Barry Folmar officiating.

Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

Friends will be received Tuesday 11:00 a.m. - Noon at Jones Funeral Home.
